RV, Boat and Car Parking in Sun City, CA: What to Know Before You Rent

Susan Hovey | August 5, 2026 @ 12:00 AM

If your RV is eating the driveway, your HOA is giving you the side eye, or the boat has outgrown the side yard, you’re not alone. Plenty of Sun City and Quail Valley households need somewhere else to park the big stuff. Here’s how to find the right spot.

Why People Park Vehicles Off Site

Driveway space is the first reason, but it’s not the only one. Some neighborhoods have rules about RVs, trailers and boats. Others just don’t have the room. And if you only use the vehicle a few times a year, it doesn’t need to sit in front of your house between trips.

An outdoor parking space gives you your yard back and gives the vehicle a steady home.

Outdoor Parking at StaxUP Storage Quail Valley

StaxUP Storage - Quail Valley at 27437 Murrieta Road has outdoor parking spaces that are 30, 40 and 50 feet long. That range covers most cars and trucks, boats on trailers, toy haulers and many motorhomes.

The facility is gated and uses NOKE smart entry, and rentals are month to month.

How to Measure Your Vehicle

Measure the full length of the rig, not just the body. For a trailer, include the tongue. For an RV, include the ladder, bike rack or spare tire. Add a little room so you can maneuver in and out without a ten point turn.

Write down the height too, in case you plan to compare covered options elsewhere. If you’re in between two lengths, go up. It’s easier to park with room to spare.

Drive-Up Units for Gear

Most vehicle owners also have gear that goes with the vehicle: covers, hoses, tie downs, camping chairs, tools. A drive-up unit lets you park at the door and load straight in.

Quail Valley has drive-up units from 5' x 10' up to 10' x 32', including 10' x 10', 10' x 15' and 10' x 20'. The larger sizes can handle equipment, ATVs and a lot of recreational gear. Our storage unit size guide helps you match a size to what you’re storing.

What to Bring When You Rent

Bring a valid photo ID and a payment method. For RVs, boats and trailers, you may also need registration, title and proof of insurance, so have them handy.

You can rent online, so you can reserve before you drive over.

A Few Tips for Storing a Vehicle Long Term

If the vehicle will sit for a while, a little prep goes a long way.

Wash and dry it before parking, since dirt and moisture are the enemy. Top off the tank or add a fuel stabilizer for long stretches. Check the tire pressure and consider tire covers. Disconnect or maintain the battery. And leave a window cracked or a moisture absorber inside RVs and boats if you can.

Keyless Access

Quail Valley uses smart entry, so you don’t need to juggle a key or a gate code. If you want to see how it works day to day, read our post on keyless entry storage in Murrieta. It’s the same idea.
