Self Storage Milestone: Happy 1-Year Anniversary to Richard Ramirez!

StaxUP Storage | January 4, 2019 @ 12:00 AM

Here at StaxUP Storage, we know our success is due to our wonderful team. The care they give our renters is unparalleled and we want to highlight their milestones along the way. Below is an interview with Richard Ramirez, who is celebrating his 1-year anniversary with StaxUP Storage.

You can meet Richard at StaxUP Storage on Enterprise Boulevard in Calexico, California .

Shannon: Thank you for taking a moment to chat with me, Richard! What year anniversary are we celebrating?

Richard: This will be one year at StaxUP Storage, Portico.

Shannon: That is exciting! Where did you work before StaxUP Storage?

Richard: Clínica de Salud del Pueblo as a Dental Assistant.

Shannon: Is the work you do now much different than the work you did before? Are there any similarities?

Richard: Oh yes, much different in every way. The only similarity is the volume of people we see every day and forming a relationship with them.

Shannon: I could see how that is true. I’m curious though, what led you to leave the healthcare industry and start working at StaxUP Storage?

Richard: My wife told me about the position available at Portico.

“Richard Ramirez is a great guy with such an outgoing personality. I knew the minute I met him he was going to be a great asset to the team. Every time I see him he is constantly smiling and cheerful. His willingness to learn the Portico property had me at WOW."

Yesenia Wilhoite, Manager at StaxUP Storage on Hill Street in El Cajon

Shannon: Since you were new to the industry, was there anything about the self storage industry that surprised you?

Richard: Just the high volume of people needing self storage. I honestly didn’t think self storage was such a popular business. It’s really a great business.

Shannon: It certainly is! Can you tell me a little bit about the Portico facility? Maybe about the kind of customers you typically have there?

Richard: Most of our tenants are from across the border, so we have a high volume of traffic all day. That keeps the day moving along fast for me. I get to be very interactive with the tenants.

Shannon: What is your current title at StaxUP Storage? What are your day-to-day duties?

Richard: I am the Assistant Manager here. I make sure the facility is in proper running order.

Shannon: Have you always been at the Portico facility?

Richard:  I’ve only worked here at Portico.

Shannon: Does it have any distinct features or selling points?

Richard: Tenants and potential tenants love our facility for its cleanliness and safety. The tenants feel comfortable storing their belongings here with us.

Shannon: I think having a clean facility communicates so much to the customers, and shows that you guys really do care and are watching over their belongings! Moving onto some more personal questions, do you have any hobbies outside of work that you want people to know about?

Richard: Every opportunity I get I’m at the dunes or cooking out or both at the same time.

“Richard is a hard working guy and can handle pretty much whatever task I throw him."

Chad Hunt, StaxUP District Manager

Shannon: Oh, nice! That sounds like fun. What was the last big trip you went on?

Richard: Haven’t traveled in a very long while.

Shannon: Is there somewhere far away you would like to go in the future?

Richard: I would say France. I’ve been wanting to visit there ever since I was a child.

Shannon: I don’t blame you, it seems like a beautiful country. Are there any "go-to" places in Calexico if someone comes to visit?

Richard: Honestly, I hardly ever come to Calexico. Only for work, which Portico is not in the city.

Shannon: I gotcha! Let’s wrap things up with one last question. Is there’s anyone at StaxUP Storage that you like to shout out? Is there anyone on the team who really helps you out?

Richard: Starting out at StaxUP Storage I had a lot of help from Chad, Brandy, and Yesenia. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I’m at right now. Thank you, guys. I really appreciate it!
