Self Storage Milestone: Happy First Anniversary to Daniel Gamboa

StaxUP Storage | February 27, 2019 @ 12:00 AM

Here at StaxUP Storage, we know our success is due to our wonderful team. The care they give our renters is unparalleled and we want to highlight their milestones along the way. Below is an interview with Chula Vista, CA Team Member Daniel Gamboa, who is celebrating his first anniversary with StaxUP Storage.

Jodie: Which anniversary is this for you at StaxUP?

Daniel: It’s my first year.

Jodie: What has been your favorite thing about working with StaxUP Storage this year?

Daniel: Just in general? My coworkers are awesome! They’re honest, straight to the point, and they get me motivated every single day.

Jodie: Do you remember any positive customer experiences that stand out?

Daniel: We have some daily customers who come in just about every day. Their daily motivation to get up and work is an inspiration. Some are older than others. They help me with their positive attitudes.

“Daniel is pretty thorough. He is a really fast learner. He has been able to pick up at such a pace where he now closes. There is only one person who works on Sundays - Daniel. He is been able to take over that duty. He drives really well. He does things in a timely manner and engages with the customers when they come in. It is important to make people feel welcome.”

Gary Garcia, Manager at StaxUP Storage in Chula Vista, CA

Jodie: What is the strangest thing you’ve helped put in self storage?

Daniel: It turned out it was a machine for x-rays. It was pretty heavy, so with a forklift, we were able to help him, which he appreciated. He was located on the 1st floor, so he could have done it himself, but we were happy to help. It was for some kind of business purpose, but he wasn’t a dentist or doctor.

Jodie: I guess when you come across deals sometimes you just have to go for it, but then where are you going to put it? In self storage, of course.

Daniel: Yes!

Jodie: What did you do before self storage?

Daniel: A lot of different lines of work. I was a tow truck driver for some time with my brother’s company Energy Towing. Then before that, I worked with my Father, we co-owned a junkyard with car parts. Montoya's Auto Wrecking it was called, it was actually my Grandma’s maiden name. We ran the business for eight or nine years. He has since retired, but sold the business’ name. They are still in business.

Jodie: What do you like to do in your free time.

Daniel: I love to exercise. I like to be out and about hiking, running, and using my 24-Hour Fitness membership.

“Daniel is a good guy to work with! He has a great personality. People seem to be drawn to him because he fits right in. Here at StaxUP, we tend to be more customer-orientated. He engages and jumps right in there and gets to know the customer in a personal manner. We have more of a family atmosphere. He has a great personality and he is easy to teach. We do everything here and he is able to multitask!”

Ana Padilla, StaxUp Storage Assistant Manager

Jodie: Good! Is there a specific place you like to hike out there?

Daniel:  There is Cowles Mountain. It’s a very fun one and it’s very motivational because it has pretty cool roads up. You can pretty much see all of San Diego. I would definitely recommend anyone to do it. It’s not easy, but it’s three miles up and back. My son has already done it.

Jodie: Is there anyone you’d like to give a shout out to?

Daniel: My boss, Gary. All of them are All-Stars. I’ve seen him go above and beyond with a customer. He’s spent over an hour before with a customer. I’ve seen him when it’s pouring rain helping people into the store or out to their car. I’d take a picture, but he’s such a good manager he reminds me not to be on my phone.

Jodie: That’s great!
